Our Sourcing & Procurment Service Case
Case 1: Helping an American Client Save 40% on Procurement Costs for a Can Sealing Machine
In 2024, an USA client in the food powder business approached us for 99mm diameter airtight food-grade tube packaging with easy peel top. By this type airtight food container, it needs a can sealing machine to secure the bottom metal lids after filling the food powder into paper cans at their food factory.
They initially searched on Alibaba and check with several merchant on semi-automatic can sealing machine (Model: SP-FGJ130C) with minimum price of USD1,600 plus USD300 FOB fee.
When our sales learned about this requirement, they informed the client that we have long-term partnerships with can sealing machine manufacturers. Thanks to these relationships, we were able to negotiate a discounted factory price. After discussions with our partner factory, they agreed to provide the machine for USD1,200.
And we supplied 25 paper cans direct to the machine factory to pre-test and adjust the seal molds, ensuring the machine would be ready for immediate use upon arrival at the client’s facility.
We also coordinated the shipping of the sealing machine together with paper cans. Our truck loaded the paper cans from our factory, and then direct went to pick up the machine from the machine factory, and then delivered everything to the shipping port. This combined logistics approach saved the client approximately USD100 in shipping costs compared to arranging separate transportation for the machine.
Case 2: Helping a German Client Find the Right Ceramic Factory
We have a German client in the DIY Pottery business, and we provide custom paper packaging boxes for their DIY pottery tools kit. These kits include various tools like bamboo knives, fabric bags, and wooden stands and we often assist them in sourcing these accessories from Chinese suppliers.
On one occasion, the client developed a new DIY ceramic cup product. These cups required ceramic bisque which fired at a low temperature of 800°C (typically, ceramics are fired at 1200°C or higher to become finished products, making it impossible for consumers to paint their own designs on them). Most ceramic factories only sell finished products, and very few offer semi-finished ceramic bisque. Additionally, these bisque require high-quality packaging to prevent broken during sea shipping. The client had contacted with many Chinese ceramic suppliers online but couldn’t find a suitable one: some factories were unwilling to provide samples, while others provided samples that didn’t meet the desired color.
When our sales manager learned about the client’s challenges, he worked with our procurement team to search for ceramic factories in Chaozhou, China—a hub for industrial ceramic production. After screening, we shortlisted 5 factories that were open to collaboration. Our sales and procurement teams then took a high-speed train to Chaozhou to visit the factories in person. They met with factory owners, assessed production capabilities, and inspected facilities. During the visits, our sales shared real-time photos, videos with the client via WhatsApp, addressing any questions the client had by consulting the factory technicians on-site.
Through these on-site visits, we discovered that each factory had its own specialization. Some excelled in producing ceramic cups, some focused on tableware for hotel supplies .etc. We also gained deeper technical insights: for example, ceramic bisque shrink by about 10% after being fired at 800°C, and they shrink an additional 20% after being fired at 1200°C. This means the initial clay molds need to be larger than the final ceramic product.
Eventually, the client selected a suitable ceramic factory. We created a WeChat group to facilitate communication and coordination between the client and the factory for sample testing. At the same time, we designed a highly protective cardboard mailer box tailored to the product’s needs for the client’s review. After several times adjustments, the client got very satisfied with both the final product and the packaging. The project moved smoothly into mass production, resulting in two 40-foot containers of goods. Now the customer project is progressing very successfully and sales are very good.
